INSPECTION AND VERIFICATION SERVICE FOR MAGNETIC LIFTERS
The periodic inspection of magnetic lifters, as well as any other below-the-hook lifting equipment, is an essential step to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety regulations. Following a well-defined protocol, all key parts of the magnetic lifter are checked, from mechanical components to magnetic performance, using certified instruments. At the end of this inspection, a verification report is issued confirming compliance for use according to the parameters specified by the manufacturer.
Each lifter undergoes a thorough verification process that includes visual inspections, mechanical checks, and breakaway force test. This procedure is designed to promptly detect any anomalies and confirm the proper operation of the lifter according to the highest safety standards.
Operational phases of the overhaul process
Data Plate Inspection
A visual inspection of the data plates is carried out to ensure their integrity and optimal readability. The information reported on them is essential for the safe use of the lifter. The plates include the serial number, identification data, and conformity certifications. If the serial number is not clearly readable, the Green Dot system still allows all product information to be uniquely traced.
Mag/Demag Lever Efficiency Check
The correct operation of the lifter’s activation/deactivation lever is checked. The mechanism must operate smoothly and safely; in case of any issues, it is promptly replaced to restore proper functionality.
Pole Surface Inspection
To ensure the best magnetic efficiency, it is essential that the pole surface is kept in good condition. It is carefully checked to ensure that the base is flat and free from damage or defects that could compromise contact with the surface. When the surface is not perfectly flat, the performance of the lifter can decrease significantly.
Lifting Eye Inspection
The inspection of the lifting eye confirms the structural integrity of the component and the absence of deformation. The fastening screws are carefully inspected and tightened to the specified torque values using a torque wrench, ensuring full compliance with safety standards and technical specifications.
Lever Locking Set Screw Verification
The tightening of the Mag/Demag lever locking set screw is checked to ensure it is securely fastened and guarantees the correct operation of the activation lever.
Breakaway Load Test
The lifting capacity of the lifter is verified through a pull-off test carried out using dedicated pulling equipment connected to a series of load cells that record the pull-off values. The test is performed at the tear-off point, which must be at least three times higher than the rated capacity of the magnetic lifter. Three measurements are carried out, and their results confirm compliance with the safety factor specified by the regulations.
ISSUE OF THE VERIFICATION REPORT
At the end of the technical inspections and instrumental tests, a verification report is issued: this document confirms that the magnetic lifter is suitable for use in accordance with the applicable regulations. The verification report includes the identification data of the lifter, the results of the tests performed, the recorded values, and confirmation that the required technical parameters and safety factor have been met. The verification report provides confirmation for the operator, the safety manager, and the company, ensuring traceability and offering objective proof of the lifter’s suitability for use after the inspection.
